All this achieves is that we employ more people in government to handle internal and external licensing. Eventually the government will decide to privatise the information and then its lost to us the public unless we are willing to pay again. As for the current problem it is possible to use Google or Yahoo to do geocoding of data from postcodes and they do not charge. The use by commercial organisations has to be paid for, but not the Publics' democratic use. We should petition the Prime Minister and EVERY M.P. TO ENSURE THE PUBLICS' USE SHOULD BE FREE!!
