New bits on TheStraightChoice launched

As promised, we now have:

Read about it on the Guardian here.

The slides for the presentation are embedded below. But the three key points out of it are:

Accurate local polls are essential for voters who are required to vote tactically in a first-past-the-post system

Information about candidates, including their CVs, should be available to voters on a single website for comparison

Every election leaflet should be uploaded to the Electoral Commission website for permanent archive where they can be verified by voters

You really should have a facebook page so we can spread the word about this website. Finding this after the election was a bit sad. :(

It’s not too late if you still have some election leaflets to upload.

We need to preserve them till the next election. All their promises and threats do continue remain relevant after the election — esp when you look back at them in 12 months time.

As to publicity, blame the bbc, press, power2010 and all the others who used us without citation which could have encouraged even more leaflets to be uploaded. We tried very very hard to get the word out.

Are you after shots of web sites, as well? It was Ian Murray’s blatant dishonesty on his site that most incensed me, though his leaflets were pretty outrageous too.

I just want to say thank you to the Straight Choice. Our newly elected Conservative MP has gone against his promises made in his electoral communication. Without the Straight Choice I would not have been able to prove the doubters wrong. Keep up the good work.

This is a victory for shared citizenship _ the age where information is shared with everyone.
